In the autumn of 2006 an idea began to emerge to find a way to celebrate the six years of the sister city relationship between Brunswick, Maine and Trinidad, Cuba. This is a relationship started by the Brunswick Trinidad Sister City Association, (BTSCA).
Artist Christopher Cart had recently completed a large 40 foot mural in Augusta, Maine. A close friend Susan Weems saw the mural and as she was also a member of BTSCA she thought, perhaps, a mural might be the perfect way of commemorating the cultural exchange between the two fine cities.
Two and a half years, many fundraising events and many exhibits, and many hours of painting later the mural was unveiled on the wall of 11 Pleasant Street in Brunswick, Maine.
